Call for Alpine Rendez-Vous

The Stellar Network of Excellence has launched a call for two-day workshops to be held in the first week of December from November 30th to December 3th, 2009 during the Alpine Rendez-Vous.

The workshop should contribute to accomplish the major goal of the Rendez-Vous: to unify the diverse TEL community within and beyond STELLAR and identify and advance emerging topics, methodologies and technologies. Therefore the workshops should cover at least one of the three ”Grand Challenges” in TEL research, shaped by STELLAR as:
1. “Connecting learners” – supporting self-directed, self-managed and self-maintained communities and create successful new forms of collaboration.
2. “Contextualisation” – technologies for learning are increasingly to be designed for culturally diverse and cross- and intercultural settings. This requires the co-design of technology and pedagogy for situated learning, simulated environments and support for mobility.
3. “Orchestration” – the integration of technologies into processes of learning and instruction in the classroom. A specific focus might be on the role of the teacher in technology-enhanced classroom learning.
Members of the TEL researcher community are invited to submit proposals to the scientific capacity committee. Up to 6 focused workshops will be selected for the funding of board and lodging (2 nights) for 15 participants who are not part of STELLAR member labs. The workshops can be designed for up to 30 participants in total.

Deadline: 26. May 2009
